Jack Vettriano, actually Jack Hoggan (born in 1951 in Fife, Scotland) - a Scottish painter. An artist born in Scotland, he dropped out of school at the age of 16 to start working at a local mine. He discovered his artistic vocation when he received watercolors for his 21st birthday. From then on he devoted himself to painting.
For the first time, he dared to show his works to the public in 1988 at the exhibition: The Royal Scottish Academy. He met with an enthusiastic reception - his paintings were bought already on the first day of the exhibition. In the following years his painting quickly matured, and the interest in his paintings among collectors increased rapidly. He exhibited, among others in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong, Johannesburg and New York. The artist's paintings can be found in many private and state collections around the world. His paintings are collected by: Jack Nicholson, Alex Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane.
Jack Vettriano's Tension, Timing and Triumph tells the story of Sir Jackie Stewart's third victory at Monaco in 1971. Each part of this limited edition print captures a moment in the race. Tension shows Sir Jackie Stewart as he walks towards the starting grid. Timing shows Sir Jackie's wife, Helen, recording the lap times on a stopwatch and Triumph shows the couple embracing after Sir Jackie had won the race.
Timing is signed by Jack Vettriano, Tension is signed by Sir Jackie Stewart and under Triumph is the title Tension, Timing & Triumph - Monaco '71. Framed and glazed.
