Sarah is an artist with a background in fine art restoration. She studied Spanish and History of Art at Birmingham University and then took a postgraduate diploma at Christie's Education which in turn led to an apprenticeship in restoration and conversation. Throughout her studies and restoration work she has always painted and is largely self - taught. Sarah's paintings are executed with intensity and vigour painterly bold marks, scratches and a range of palette knives. She now paints full time.
This painting is an example of the figurative work she did in the past, but she's concentrating on her Woodlands paintings. Her figurative paintings influence included Spanish art from the Golden Age, mediaeval art and icons and religious imagery of early altarpieces.The painting is signed lower right "Ollerenshaw" by black paint. Also titled by pencil and signed on reverse. This work is unframed.
